Teamsters Local 122 officers and members attended the 46th Annual TNBC Educational Conference and Banquet in Miami, Fla. where Virginia Barnes, Local 122 President, was recognized for her lifetime of service to the union. John Murphy, Local 122 Secretary-Treasurer, had the honor of introducing Barnes as she received her award at the banquet.

Barnes, who is a 30-year member out of the Boston Housing Authority, has not only distinguished herself as an officer of Local 122 for 19 years, but also in the political arena. In 2010, Barnes was appointed a Massachusetts At-Large Delegate for the Democratic National Convention and served as a Superdelegate at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. 

“It has truly been an honor to serve beside Virginia Barnes in her role as an officer of Local 122 for nearly two decades,” Murphy said. “Virginia has been my trusted and close advisor and a dear friend and confidant. This honor is the culmination of the growth of not only her career but the growth of the TNBC within our union. We have seen great leaders like Virginia rise from the membership of the TNBC and have an incredible impact on the Teamsters Union.”
